M.C. K~Swift: The Proper Gander

<a href="http://mckswift.bandcamp.com/album/the-proper-gander">The Proper Gander (Intro) by M.C. K~Swift</a>

I have known M.C. K~Swift since 2003. We met during Blackout Arts Collective's 2003 Lyrics on Lockdown Tour. We performed at a community show in Hell's Kitchen during the New York leg of the tour, which was my only stop in NY aside from Rikers Island. Over time we came to learn that we shared a pretty significant list of mutual friends. I remember immediately being blown away by his versatility as an artist. MC, poet, producer, DJ, he is a Hip-Hop jack of all trades.

This week's spotlight slot belongs to Swift. Two weeks ago, we met up at at the listening party for his new album, The Proper Gander, at which I was honored enough to earn an invitation to perform. Swift just celebrated his birthday by releasing a pretty f*king awesome album. He has remained consistent over the years with both talent and content. Don't approach a K~Swift album expecting snap music, auto-tune, or coke rap. He makes it clear he doesn't play that shit. "Nu' Ol' School" dropped as a single release, and with that being the lead track, I knew to expect the best with this project. An in depth review of this album is forthcoming. For now, cop it and come to your own conclusions.

Personal highlights (aside from the aforementioned): "Alternative Progress", "Crack is Wack" (this track is Certified Corporate B-Boy Fresh!!!), "Nu' Ol' School (remix) feat. Gif, Cavalier, & SuperNova".

Stop reading about it and be about it. It only takes 5 minutes do download. Hit the link at the top of this page.

You can catch M.C. K~Swift alongside my homie Divine and LI's own Tasty Keish every Friday night on Rise Up Radio
