New video by Top $ Raz: "Dead!"
Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:51AM Tweet Shout out to my homie Top $ Raz for a great song. It's my favorite jawn off Spilled Milk. Yeah, that is a download link. Download it, right now. B-Boy says so. I am always skeptical of cds I get for free at shows, but Raz impressed me quickly.
Introducing this brother to all of you Corporate B-Boy & B-Girl types out there is a pleasure. He consistently shows love on the scene, and is an approachable, thoughtful, honest, real dude. Above all else, he is a talented emcee. I met Raz through SoSoon, and always look forward to seeing him on or off stage (something I can't say for everyone). Be on the lookout, he is an artist on the rise. With 2 albums under his belt and VERY favorable reviews in several media outlets, it is only a matter of time for the Far Rock Champ to get his due.
Queens Get The Money!!!!!!! (And I ain't even from there)

Short Bio:
Defining his style as Ready to Die-meets-Midnight Marauders, this Far Rockaway Queens emcee evidently has the hunger and knack for detail as the beloved Biggie Smalls did, tied in with the elegance, finesse, and melody of A Tribe Called Quest. Top $ Raz has never held back in attempting to be amongst the best of the best, and he certainly raps about what is real and sincere to him; absolutely no gimmicks. Top $ Raz (real name Rasheem Johnson) has been interested in hip hop since grade 2, and has been rapping publicly since he was 16, even putting out his first album out at that young age. Prior to his interest in being an emcee, Raz has always been interested in street stories and uses the microphone as a vehicle to tell others, quite vividly, how he sees the game of life.
About Spilled Milk
While you shouldn’t cry over spilled milk, you can certainly rap about it. “We can definitely vent about the events that have shaped us, but there shouldn’t be tears,” claims Raz, “There is no time to cry [about spilled milk]. Keep it moving.” Lyrically, Spilled Milk is an album of “truth and sincerity.” Musically, the LP is a “soulful, yet, future-sound.” A majority of the project is horn-infused with a pleasant, synthetic modern twist to it, demanding playback for years on end. Furthermore, showing true maturity since his last release, Top $ Raz has put focus on album structure and concept. This state of mind has lead to a much more honest and in-depth project with a precise thesis.
